You must be aware of a few things when considering safety and security films for your facility.
Choosing a film for your needs can sometimes be challenging, but the most important thing to know is the safety and security films MUST BE anchored properly!!!
DOORS MUST BE ANCHORED DIFFERENTLY THAN WINDOWS. THE USE OF SILICONE ON DOORS AS AN ANCHORING SYSTEM IS EXTEREMLY INADAQUATE AND DOES NOT HAVE ANY TEST STANDARDS TO BACK UP THE CLAIMS. (See Testing Videos)
If you see silicone on the doors of schools, places of worship, daycares, community centers or retail stores, those doors are not secure. Please tell the appropriate security officer.
Although this method is common it will not keep the glass in the frame of the door. (link to ???)
We do recommend using a tinted security film if possible, so you can get a return on your investment with energy savings. These tinted security films can also give you daytime privacy.
If any company is touting silicone as an anchoring for security filmed doors, be sure to ask for their independent testing results.
